Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026. This policy explains what information OtakuArcs collects and how it is used.
1. Overview
OtakuArcs (“we”, “us”) is an anime information and community site. We aim to collect as little personal data as possible.
2. Information we collect
Local storage on your device
- Poll votes (so you cannot vote twice on the same poll)
- Like state for comments you liked
- Optional preferences stored only in your browser
Community posts
If you post a comment or review, the name and text you submit are stored in our database so they can be shown on the site. Email fields, when provided, are treated as private and not displayed publicly.
Technical data
Standard server or hosting logs may include IP address, browser type and request time for security and reliability. We do not sell this data.
3. Third-party services
- AniList — anime metadata and images loaded when you browse titles.
- Firebase Realtime Database — used for community comments, polls and editor content where enabled.
- YouTube / Dailymotion — trailers may embed from these providers when you open a trailer.
- Fonts — Google Fonts may be loaded for typography.
These services have their own privacy policies. Embeds may set cookies according to those providers.
4. Cookies
We do not rely on advertising cookies. Essential local storage is used for votes and UI state. Third-party embeds may use their own cookies.
5. Children
OtakuArcs is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Adult (18+) content is filtered out of default listings where possible via AniList’s isAdult flag.
6. Your choices
You can clear site data in your browser settings to remove local votes and likes. To request removal of a public comment you posted, contact us via the Contact page with enough detail to identify the post.
7. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
